Jim was partly correct the safety hook was the culprit but had not got stuck in between the wire safety catch, somehow the rear of the catch was pushed back and was caught at the rear of the catch opening, as per the dent in the picture. The trunnion is the only reused fastener on the car, as I didn't have another one available when I was doing this bit and you can't see it without a camera under the slam panel anyway. It is actually not my car. Oh well I am sure I will fathom out which part is causing the issue, but its annoying how something so simple can cause such aggravation. This thread is from the archives. Before I established the tube had leaked, and removed the broken one from the Midget, I found the bloody tube to be a nuisance around the HT leads.

The photo is taken inside the front wheel arch, cable runs right towards the footwell. Tim, have you tried moving the wire bit forward? Apologies to Dominic, he is correct. The sheath terminates at the the radiator support, the inner continuing to the bonnet catch, which I then secured with a screw, and passed back around itself before seating in a second trunnion see next photo. Thanks too for the compliments.
